  1. Dear Mr. Ernst, Am sure you won’t remember me, you may remember my brother, however – we were in the band in Livonia Michigan – Franklin High School, 1963-64 – Jim was the first drum major – you sent him to Indiana the summer of ’63. I remember you with great fondness – you were an inspiration to me – your kindness, sense of humor, love for your students, I could go on…. but won’t – am sure you’ve had many former students remember their years in your class who feel the same. Anyway, Just wanted to let you know we’re still in your debt.Band class was a great place to be.
A few years ago my neighborhood Golden Age center started one of your New Horizon bands – am now living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It’s a small world, eh? :-). I still have my clarinet and now my grandson is playing it….Anyway, I just wanted to say “Hi” and to thank you for those years you taught at Franklin. Have a great day, Sincerely, Pat Fisher Lewis – former bass clarinet player and tenor sax player – neither of them played well unfortunately – my fault…..not yours.
    I
