Who We Are
We are a concert band providing opportunities for senior adults to come together and play music.
Welcome to the North Shore New Horizons Band, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing seniors an exciting and educational opportunity to make music, regardless of ability or experience. We welcome those who haven’t played for years, as well as those who never found the time to begin.
Our 18th season began September 2016. Members hail from Winnetka, Wilmette, Evanston, Skokie, Northbrook, Highland Park, Glencoe, Deerfield, Glenview, Riverwoods, Morton Grove, Chicago, Vernon Hills and Lake Bluff. Some of our members are retired from musical careers and many others played instruments in high school or college, but others only started playing after they retired. Yet one thing is certain: everyone is welcome to play!
We are affiliated with the New Horizons International Music Association, an organization of more than 175 senior bands across the United States and Canada.
The band rehearses every Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Glencoe Park District Takiff Center located at 999 Green Bay Road in Glencoe, IL.
Newcomers who would like to attend a rehearsal should contact us by email.
